Handmade felt bird by SeaPinks, $14 at Etsy.

Recently I finally got all my craft stuff neatly organized and sorted in boxes an containers. Now I can quickly find what I’m looking for. All very efficient, but it needs some fun added to it. How about making cute little pincushions? Paper String Cloth gives a good tutorial and when in need of more inspiration, check TipNut for 60+ links to other tutorials…

Anna Noel’s ceramics
Wednesday September 16 2009

Ceramics by Anna Noel from Wales, GB.

Anna’s work is inspired by the mystery and dream world quality of myths and legends and the role animals play in them, and she is interested in the way animals are used to symbolise human qualities and emotions. She is also influenced by early Tang sculptures and tomb figures from China and much of pre-Colombian art. She is intrigued by the moment of contact with a creature, the point of interaction when the animal looks you in the eye, and endeavours to capture this moment in her work.

Her sculptures are hand modelled and raku fired, cooling the work quickly and plunging it in sawdust after firing. This gives the slight crackled effect in the glaze. The spots are created where no glaze has been applied and the smoke of the sawdust firing seeps into the clay turning it black. The different surface textures can be felt as you run your fingers across the body.
