I’ve been neglecting posting on my blog for a few days now, but I had a very relaxing reason: I was totally enjoying THE local performing arts event, called Noorderzon. This 10-day festival is an annual highlight in Groningen, my hometown. I’ve been looking forward for it all summer, and for a good reason: again it was so much fun!!

Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival Groningen is the somewhat curious combination of a cutting-edge art festival, with riveting modern performing arts from all corners of the world … and a large-scale summer fest in a beautiful park to which access is free. It is an annual eleven-day festival for 135,000 visitors from Groningen, the rest of the country and the rest of the world. We present new work by grandmasters, old friends and young theatre makers and musicians from countries such as France, Australia, Cambodia, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Thailand, USA, UK, Switzerland, Finland, South Africa, Mozambique and Hungary. Stories from all over the world, narrated in Groningen.

This was the 22nd edition of the festival. I guess it was my twelfth… So much to see, so little time ;-) You should definitely check out Blaudzun, Gabby Young & Other Animals and Of Monsters and Men. Anyway, as said, I really enjoyed a little “time off” in my own town (even though I didn’t have any time off from work), and therefore decided not to post every day, to get that real holiday-feeling. Last night was my last night, so from now on, I’ll be posting on a daily basis again! :-)
