Judge this book by its cover Thursday January 17 2013 The Wizard of Oz and I have always had a bit of a special bond. The main character is called Dorothy, Doortje in Dutch, which is also my official middle name. Nevertheless, I can not remember I’ve ever read the book. Then last week I received a literature gift card for my efforts during a symposium, and I just couldn’t resist a beautiful Penguin Threads edition of this book. It holds three of the fourteen stories Baum wrote about Oz: The Wizard of Oz, The Emerald City of Oz and Glinda of Oz.
Seriously, this Penguin Threads edition with its cover of Jillian Tamaki’s embroidered arwork, sculpt embossed, and its hand stitched paper this is one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever seen! You should definitely judge this book by its cover! Click on the image to view its details… I am Oz, the great and terrible. Who are you, and why do you seek me?
