Now that I’ve been living in my own house for nearly two years, I’m slowly starting to discover my own interior design taste. I love design classics, especially those timeless designs from the 50s, like my leather chair by Rob Parry. Also on my 50s-wish-list are a couple of Eames chairs for my kitchen and the AJ Lamp by Louis Poulsen!

Louis Poulsen is a Danish lighting manufacturer that was founded in 1874. Commissioned by Louis Poulsen, Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ lamp especially for the SAS Royal Hotel in Kopenhagen (now know as the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel). Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) is one of the grandfathers of modern Danish design and is best remembered for his simple, yet elegant and functional chair designs. Together with Fritz Hansen, masterprieces such the Ant Chair, the Egg Chair and the Swan Chair have propelled him to become an international icon.

Originally, the lamp was only available in white, graphite gray and black, but Louis Poulsen recently expanded the color palette to sand, red, petrol, blue / green and yellow / green. The floor lamp costs around €750, the table lamp €675 and wall lamp €530. The wall lamp is also available with LED lighting for which you’ll pay approx €750.
