Specialty Bottle

Tuesday October 1 2013

Remember my trends-post on brown glass?! I’m still loving this kind of packaging, but the brands that use brown glass (like Aesop and Voluspa) often sell their products at high prices. Imagine how excited I got by  this super easy and cheap DIY project by Almost Makes Perfect: DIY pretty shampoo bottles.

Molly used some Amber PET Boston Round Glass Bottles, which she bought at Specialty Bottle. If you ever need an empty bottle, whether plastic, tin, aluminum or glass (I would choose Amber Glass Bottles), this is your go-to online shop! Not only do they sell every kind of model, size and color, there’s also no minimum on your order and the prices are very low (starting at $0.56).  International orders cannot be placed online though, you’ll have to send an email if you’re not a US resident. I guess I’ll have to try this and share my experiences with you later on.

Nice to know they also sell shrink bands to make your products safe and acceptable for retail distribution and perforated for consumer-friendly opening. And all you’ll need to use these bands is a hair dryer.

Molly’s result:

How was your weekend?

Monday March 11 2013

I was planning to stay in my pajamas all day yesterday, but then one of my best friends called and I had to get dressed to enjoy some sinful latte macchiato and little prosecco with her and her boyfriend. I decided to invite my parent over for diner, after all, I was fully dressed already. After cooking up some San FranQuinoa Salad, my mom and I used the kitchen to do some crafting. I won’t yet tell you what for, but I did take some pictures of the process I’d like to share with you…

Did you have a good weekend?

DIY Wrapped bracelets

Tuesday September 4 2012

When I paid our local bead store a short visit last week, I saw some wrapped bracelets that were really easy to re-create.

What you’ll need:

  • 20 cm of chain (I used approx 17cm)*
  • 50 cm of wax cord**
  • end cap with eyelet
  • 2 eyelets
  • closure
  • 2 pliers
  • scissors

* cm to inch converter
** rigid and thin enough to pull through the links of the chain twice

How to: (yes, that’s a lot of words, but it’s really easy, I promise!)

Trend : Kitty flats

Saturday September 1 2012

Aren’t these kitty flats by Charlotte Olympia just TOO cute?! Comfortable flats, funny, fluffy, sweet and chic. Purrrrfect for cat lovers like myself and my friend miss R. Only downside, their pricing: £465.

But you know I won’t be posting about them, if I didn’t have some great alternatives for you. :-)

Some cheaper versions:

And some DIY tutorials:

What do you think of these shoes? Too much or too cute? I think I’ll follow Fashion Zen‘s advice and buy the ones from Brandos, just for the fun of them! (These are in leopard print, but are still very similar to the originals as they came in leopard as well!) More into mice than cats? Check out these cuties by Marc by Marc Jacobs: studded mouse flats.
