I’ve been obsessed by Confetti System, even before I saw it the in craft room / dressing room / home office of Love Maegan. But priced at $130.-, the are just screaming to be DIY’ed! You can find tutorials online, f.i. check out Punkystyle, The Knotty Bride, A Subtle Revelry, Oh Yenner & Prudent Baby. When I tried them, I didn’t like the outcomes of working with tissue paper, gift wrapping foil or fabric. So this is what I came up with:

Maar voor de prijs van $130.- vragen deze kwastjes er om ge-DIY-ed te worden! Je kunt online vele tutorials vinden, bijv.  van Punkystyle, The Knotty Bride, A Subtle Revelry, Oh Yenner & Prudent Baby. Maar toen ik die tutorials zelf probeerde, was ik niet tevreden met het resultaat van crepepapier, inpak folie of stof. Daarom heb ik een andere methode bedacht:

• scissors
• glue gun
• lametta in different colors; I used gold, white, oyster, silver, pearl and black x 3

I came across this tutorial for Midnight Metallic nails by Beautylish and I just had to give it a try! This couldn’t be too difficult, right?! I already had a dark blue nail polish (by Sephora) and I bought a golden flakie one by Essence. The only downside of this otherwise excellent flakie (for only €1.29 at Kruidvat): the polish not only contains flakies, but glitters too, which doesn’t look great on a dark background. But according to my coworker-also-nail-polish-expert Essence also has flakies without glitter and even with a holographic effect. One guess who’s running back to Kruidvat this afternoon… This is the result of the combination Sephora + Essence. I haven’t used the dotting tool (although I have one), but just painted the flakies in a triangle shape. Very difficult to photograph these glitters, but you’ll get the idea:

Ik kwam deze tutorial voor Midnight Metallic nagels van Beautylish tegen en ik moest ‘m gewoon proberen! Dit kon toch niet zó moeilijk zijn. Donkerblauwe nagellak had ik al (van Sephora) en ik heb er gelijk een goudkleurige flakie van Essence bijgekocht. Enige nadeel van deze overigens verder prima flakie (voor maar €1.29 bij Kruidvat): de lak bevat naast flakies ook glitters, en op een donkere ondergrond is dat net iets minder mooi. Maar volgens mijn collega-tevens-nagellak-expert heeft Essence ook flakies zonder glitters en zelfs met holografisch effect. Eén keer raden wie er vanmiddag gelijk weer bij de Kruidvat staat… Dit is het resultaat met Sephora + Essence. Ik heb dus geen stipjes gezet (ook al heb ik wel zo’n tool), maar gewoon in een driehoekje de flakies er overheen gelakt. Wel heel lastig te fotograferen die glitters, maar het gaat om het idee:

I have collected so many beautiful ribbons that they had earned to be organized neatly. I’ve searched the internet for the most ideal solution. I was particularly fan of the box with holes, so easy to use. But actually, I had far too many ribbons. At Leenbakker I came across these handy, inexpensive and tie hangers, perfect for ribbons as well. I have bought 5 so I can organize them by color. Now I just have to find a place for these hangers to hang …

Ik heb zo veel mooie linten verzameld, dat ze het wel verdiend hadden eindelijk eens netjes opgeborgen te worden. Ik heb lang op internet gezocht wat de meest ideale oplossing zou zijn. Ik was vooral fan van de doos met gaatjes, zo handig in gebruik. Maar feitelijk had ik daarvoor veel te veel verschillende linten. Bij Leenbakker kwam ik deze handige, en goedkope stropdas-hangers tegen, perfect om linten aan op te hangen. Ik heb er 5 gekocht, zodat ik ze per kleur op kan hangen. Nu alleen nog een plekje vinden om de hangers op te hangen…

Ik heb weer een gigantische to-do list voor een creatieve zomer, waarvoor ik mooi de materialen kan gebruiken die ik tijdens mijn twee bezoekjes aan Parijs heb gekocht.
