Monday 9 January 2012 Violent Lips
When I first saw them appear on the lips of many celebrities, but I found them quite strange, this lip tattoos by Violent Lips. But actually the invention of a 12 year old American girl and her father is quite brilliant: these are stickers for your lips. So like the nail stickers, you can get effects that you can’t get with ordinary lipstick. Moreover, they remain good up to 4 to 8 hours, no matter how much you eat / drink / talk / kiss etc. (There are a few warnings: greasy food should be avoided and you should drink through a straw as much as possible f.e.) Watch the video by Kandee Johnson to see how you apply and remove them. You can choose from more than 80 prints. They should make a version with the Dutch flag, for the upcoming European Football Championships this year. Meanwhile, I know what my lips will be saying next year on my birthday… Would you wear them? ========== Toen ik ze voor het eerst zag verschijnen op de lippen van allerlei celebrities, vond ik ze maar vreemd, deze lip tattoos van Violent Lips. Maar eigenlijk is deze uitvinding van een 12 jarig Amerikaans meisje en haar vader best briljant: het zijn stickers voor op je lippen. Zo kun je, net als met de nagelstickers, effecten verkrijgen die je met gewone lipstick niet kunt krijgen. Bovendien blijven ze 4 tot 8 uur zitten, ongeacht hoeveel je eet / drinkt / praat / kust etc. (Er zijn wel een paar waarschuwingen: beter geen vettigheden eten en drinken met een rietje bijvoorbeeld). Bekijk hieronder het filmpje van Kandee Johnson om te zien hoe je ze aanbrengt en weer verwijdert. Je kunt kiezen uit ruim 80 prints. Het wordt hoog tijd dat er ook een versie met de Nederlandse vlag komt, met het oog op het komende EK voetbal dit jaar. Ondertussen weet ik al wel wat mijn lippen volgend jaar op mijn verjaardag zeggen… Zou jij ze dragen?

When I was in Paris last summer, I have made several sweet stops at Ladurée for the most delicious macarons! And the 12 macarons that I took home with me were eaten within one hour. For cookies, you will need to go to Paris, but soon you can find their make up worldwide: Les Merveilleuses the Ladurée (the wonders of Ladurée). We’re talking 20 colors of blush, lipstick and a foundation. The collection is available in Japan first (February 2012), in Europe next (autumn 2012) and finally in other Asian countries and the United States. I am very curious about the first photos, reviews and of course the product itself! Hopefully they are as tasteful as their macarons… ========== Toen ik afgelopen zomer in Parijs was, heb ik meerdere malen een snoep-stop gemaakt bij Ladurée voor een van de meest heerlijke macaronen! En de 12 macaronen die ik mee naar huis nam, waren binnen een uur opgesnoept. Voor de koekjes zul je toch echt naar Parijs moeten, maar binnenkort kun je wereldwijd wel de make up van Laduree kopen: Les Merveilleuses de Ladurée (de wonderen van Laduree). Het gaat om 20 kleuren blush, een foundation en lipstick. De collectie is vanaf februari 2012 eerst alleen in Japan verkrijgbaar, komt daarna naar Europa (herfst 2012) en zal daarna ook in de andere Aziatische landen en de Verenigde Staten te koop zijn. Ik ben ontzettend benieuwd naar de eerste foto’s, reviews en natuurlijk naar de producten zelf! Hopelijk zijn ze net zo lekker als hun macaronen… Friday 2 December 2011 A beautiful day
My day turned into a beauty day, totally unintended. The afternoon started with an anappointment with my regular stylist at Toni & Guy, Ingrid. She is undoubtedly the best hairdresser ever! Not cheap, but T&G is certainly worth your money. Leave a comment if you’d like to try T&G Groningen yourself, with 20% discount. I came up with a picture from the lookbook of T&G 2011-2012, and although my hair is way too thin and weak for that particular hair-do, Ingrid gave it a unique twist, that I’m very happy with! I’m sure I caught some glances walking down the street! Used products:
Then I went to Sephora (inside the V&D), and Joel gave me a super cool makeup. The products he used were nearly all by Dior, and I am completely in love with:
All in all, my hair and makeup never looked better! After all this beauty-stuff I went back to work and ended the day with a drink with colleagues. Too bad that now only my best friend mister Couch is here to enjoy it and I have to remove it all later tonight. But at least I can some great products to my wish list (as if there wasn’t enough on it yet) …
========== Mijn dag werd geheel onbedoeld een beetje een beauty dag. Vanmiddag had ik een afspraak met mijn vaste kapper bij Toni & Guy, Ingrid. Ik zeg: Nederlands beste kapper!! Niet goedkoop, maar je krijgt er echt wat voor terug. Laat een comment achter als je met 20% korting T&G Groningen wilt proberen. Ik kwam aan met een plaatje uit het lookbook van T&G 2011-2012, en hoewel mijn haar veel te dun en slap is om die hair-do te verkrijgen, heeft ze er een geheel eigen draai aangegeven waar ik super tevreden mee ben. Ik heb zeker een aantal blikken gestolen op straat! Gebruikte producten:
Daarna liep ik even bij Sephora binnen in de V&D, en daar kreeg ik van Joel een super mooie make-up op. De producten die hij gebruikte waren bijna allemaal van Dior, en ik ben er helemaal verliefd op:
Al met al zaten mijn haar en make-up nog nooit zo goed. Na al dit getuttel ging ik terug naar het werk om de dag af te sluiten met een borrel met collega’s. Beetje jammer dat nu alleen mijn beste vriend meneertje Bank er van kan genieten en ik de boel er zometeen al weer af moet halen. Maar in ieder geval heb ik mijn verlanglijstje weer kunnen aanvullen (alsof daar nog niet genoeg op stond)…

If you hadn’t heard it yet: Inglot is now available at V&D! Just like Sephora, Inglot starts with a shop-in-shop in V&D! They started in Alkmaar and as of 10 September you’ll find them in Zwolle. Inglot will probably not come to Groningen because Sephora is already represented in this V&D. Unfortunately, but for me and my fellow Groningen-citizens, Zwolle is still a lot closer than the newly opened flagship store on the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. Although the shop-in-shops are not very large, you’ll certainly find the so-called freedom system with a choice of no less than 160 eyeshadows, 29 blushes, 21 powders, concealers and 19 90 lipstick colors. Which makes me totally happy about Inglot: formaldehyde-free nail polish!! Had je het nog niet gehoord, dan weet je het nu: binnenkort kun je voor Inglot make-up gewoon terecht bij V&D. Net als Sephora, start Inglot met een shop-in-shop! Vanaf afgelopen vrijdag kun je terecht in Alkmaar, vanaf 10 september ook in Zwolle. In Groningen zal geen Inglot komen, omdat hier Sephora reeds vertegenwoordigd is in de V&D. Helaas, maar Zwolle is voor mij en mijn mede-Groningers nog altijd toch een stuk dichterbij dan de onlangs geopende flagshipstore aan de Van Baerlestraat te Amsterdam. M.A.C. will launch its new collection Posh Paradise on September 15. We haven’t seen the matte lipstick from MAC since 2008, but the matte lip is a trend again, so MAC can of course not stay behind. I’m all for the two new Mac nailpolishes. I’ve searched ages for that particular color yellow (gold immortal)! Hopefully it’s really the color as pictured, so yellow and not gold. And black with purple glitter (rain of flowers) will not look too bad either. Does any of you experienced the polishes of M.A.C.? There are also new colors paint pots. I only use paint pot in the well-known color “painterly” as the basis for my eye shadow, and I never really thought about using paint pot as the actual eyeshadow. What is your experience? The collection is available through November 10, so be quick! M.A.C. komt op 15september uit met Posh Paradise, een nieuwe lijn met nieuwe kleuren en nieuwe producten. Sinds 2008 hebben we de matte lipsticks van M.A.C. niet meer gezien, maar nu de matte lip weer een trend is, blijft M.A.C. natuurlijk niet achter. Ik ga helemaal voor de twee nieuwe lakjes van M.A.C. Die kleur geel (immortal gold) zoek ik al tijden namelijk! Hopelijk is het echt de kleur van de afbeelding, dus geel, en niet goudkleurig. En ook zwart met paarse glitters (rain of flowers) zal niet misstaan. Iemand ervaring met de lakjes van M.A.C.? Ook zijn er weer nieuwe kleuren paint pots. Ik gebruik alleen paint pot in de bekende kleur “painterly”, als basis voor mijn oogschaduw, en heb er eigenlijk nooit aan gedacht dat een paint pot ook kan werken als oogschaduw. Heeft één van jullie ervaring met een gekleurde paint pot van M.A.C.? De collectie is verkrijgbaar t/m 10 november, dus wees er snel bij!

The YouTube channel of the British sisters Samantha (Sam) and Nicola (Nic) Chapman offers lots of great makeup tutorials. They make these tutorials since 2007, but they have been working as makeup artist for more than 15 years. They also do makeup workshops in their studio in London. In their tutorials they often copy a requested celebrity look. The products they use most in their tutorials are from Makeup Forever, Mac, Illamasqua, Chanel, Bourjois, Urban Decay and Laura Mercier. Three of my favorite movies: Absoluut een aanrader voor alle beauty-lovers: PIXIWOO! Op het YouTube kanaal van de Britse zussen Samantha (Sam) en Nicola (Nic) Chapman vind je heel veel leuke make-up tutorials. Deze filmpjes maken ze sinds 2007, maar ze zijn al ruim 15 jaar werkzaam als visagistes. Ze geven in hun studio in Londen ook make-up workshops. In hun filmpjes maken ze vaak een look van een beroemdheid na.
